The UNI-Certiquality mark is a product mark that certifies ceramic tiles on the basis of tests, inspections and control activities demonstrating that the tiles not only meet the requirements of the technical reference standards, but also that they are adequately controlled during all stages of the production process. So even if it is not possible to perform all the tests on the production line, it is reasonable to assume that consistent product quality can be guaranteed. This means that the manufacturer must implement a suitable quality control system that establishes a set of procedures, a laboratory with specialist technical personnel, and an adequate data recording system so that in the event of non-conforming products it is possible to ascertain the causes of defects. All this is covered by the heading of “Quality control system”, a necessary requirement to obtain product certification to the UNI-Certiquality mark. The mark, registered by UNI (Italian National Standards Organisation), is now managed by Certiquality. It is issued to applicant companies that are able to demonstrate that they have an adequate quality control system and also that the type of product for which they are requesting the mark meets the requirements laid down by current applicable standards. The procedures for obtaining the mark are described in specific documentation prepared by Certiquality. The official test laboratory and inspection authority is the Italian Ceramic Centre in Bologna. |
